This dynamic stretching exercise is ideal to perform before running or any other athletic activity. This exercise prepares your hip adductors and abductors for exercise by briefly applying their maximum stretching capacity. Lateral leg swings can be done anywhere and don’t require any equipment.

  • Rest an arm on a chair or wall.
  • Place your hips and shoulders parallel to the chair or the wall.


  • Swing the leg.
  • Quickly make an adduction followed by an abduction.


Try not to lean forward or backward with the trunk during movement. Try not to bend the knee of your swinging leg
