This stretch involves the posterior deltoids, but particularly the triceps. It is important to breathe in well and breathe out during the movement. The exercise does not require any material apart from a towel and it can be done at home or in the training room. The towel helps stretch the triceps more than when you use your hand. It is ideal to do the stretch after a training session including elbow extension movements

  • Point the flexed elbow towards the ceiling while holding a towel.
  • With the other hand grab the other end of the towel behind the back.
  • Keep the back straight.
  • Keep the head aligned with the body.


  • Pull down with the lower hand.


Do not go to the point where there is pain in the shoulder. Remember to stretch the other side.
